DESCRIPTION:Take part in Wanna Kawandi? from 4-6 p.m. in Highsmith Student Union\, Mountain Suite 229. Led by Asheville-based nonprofit Local Cloth\, this interactive workshop introduces participants to the tradition of Kawandi quilting while emphasizing creativity\, sustainability\, and reuse. \nKawandi quilts\, traditionally made by Siddhi women\, are unique in both technique and process—constructed entirely by hand and built from the outside in using small fabric scraps. In this workshop\, participants will create their own piece while learning about the cultural significance and sustainable practices behind this art form. All materials will be provided\, though attendees are welcome to bring any special fabric pieces they’d like to incorporate into their design. \nClick here to register. \n\nAccessibility\nUNC Asheville is committed to providing universal access to all of our events.
